Replacement Carpet

Their bamboo is in my project. My experience has been that their product is high quality and they were easy to work with.

My Malaga's original looked like the Hazel, almost golden in color but I think Bamboo, Cognac or Brown would work. GAHH also has these materials and does excellent work. If I were to redo mine I would use the Brown.

Scott,

i've got the same color combination (black ext / tan int) ... and have been contemplating the same thing. i have considered a black carpet as well as the cognac or the bamboo. i have the samples at home (albeit small) - when i get home tonight i will compare them to the screen and let you know how accurate they appear. the hazel does look right to my memory of my 1st 2002, which was malaga and my bavaria, which was sahara. i don't know if the carpet in my coupe has been previously replaced, but it seems darker than hazel.

cheers

I would say that the original carpet in your trunk is correct. Medium Brown from what I remember.

Somewhere along the way the previous owner dyed the carpet black in the cabin but not the trunk. Now the black has faded slightly on the hump/ trans area.

I'm with Chris on this one- Medium Brown. You can check on Coupeking's website; he's done some tans recently. Maybe do some searching for black exteriors; not many around.

No on the upgrade to square weave. It's not a BMW carpet unless by choice just for your ride. ( The square weave today is of less weight then when originally installed in early Porsches, so there's a few extra tricks over hard bends so the backing doesn't show like back seat areas.)

From what I've seen of the euro suppliers, the heelpad area doesn't seem quite right. So if you do use World make sure you know what that area is compared to what you've got or desire. I've only heard of good things on those guys but it's been on Porsches. A little more on cost but worth it in my opinion.

One last thought- Este's. She's out of Tennesse and does a lot of the 2002 guys work. She's been working on a coupe set. Beautiful work with attention to detail since it's her alone. I think Dang was talking with her a little while back.

I think a black or dark blue coupe like Murray's for example would have had the black/grey salt and pepper but perhaps not. I put square weave in my 2002 though it is not original because I liked it in my 230SL and did not have any issue with seeing the backing. I bought it from GAHH but I know the Porsche guys are much more particular. GAHH has excellent customer service. Peter makes carpets to customer tastes but does not typically utilize the original materials or colors. Esty has done some good work but she doesn't use high end materials, again they are made to her customer's tastes which in the 2002 community usually means affordability rules.

I have the world uph in my coupe and can recommend it. I ended up with a non factory combo because tan leather seats and very good black door panels came with a parts car I purchased. My blue original carpet was shot and my door panels were fair. I put the black door panels and black carpet in with the tan leather. A nice contrast, looks great, not stock! But who outside of the inmates on this site would know.

well i have to figure out what safe place i put the samples in. i can't find them. i'll keep looking

Scott,

... when i get home tonight i will compare them to the screen and let you know how accurate they appear ...
cheers

rsporsche: i have the KHM carpets and floormats & i'm very happy with the quality. they came with my CSi (its restoration was done in germany), so i can't testify to how KHM was to deal with.

The colors on the website appear to be much more brightly lit, or are a bit lighter than the actual carpet samples.
