I have a 1973 3.0 Csi which I have lost the key for. Speaking with
the parts department at BMW Aberdeen, I was advised that I need the
number off the barrel. I have just spent most of weekend trying to
remove ignition barrel to no avail. I took the clove lock off and that number did not help.

Can anyone help point me as what to do next? How to remove it without damaging it.

Or is there another way of getting a new key for my treasure.

Reg Number is ORS 30 M . Chassis No 2264567

Thanks for any help provided

replacement keys.

Had the same problem. Getting the ignition lock out is a pain so dont!
With the chasis number the key code should be available from Germany but a key code is a safer opition.
Not sure why the glove box code didnt work, it should. The drivers door lock and the boot lock will have the (same) key code. The drivers lock is not difficult to remove, just need small hands and a 32mm spanner if memory serves. Not all BMW dealers are familiar with e9 and say keys can not be obtained.
This is wrong, Mobile Tradition are happy to help.

PM me if you need any more info/help!
