Can't find a part number for this, tried a gas cap gasket but it's not quite big enough. Mine leaks slightly. Don't want to replace my original cap, any ideas/cross reference? TIA.

i did the following:

i bought a new plastic cap, and i took the gasket from it and replace the original cap gasket

the leaks were still there

at the end i realised that the leaks came from the cap construction itself, try to figure out a cross section of the cap and you will understand what i mean, it is difficult to explain it here

regards

I cut my own additional gasket from some thick-ish gasket paper and added it to the gasket already there. The cap is now a very tight fit, but I don't think the extra gasket did any good. Suspect the actual cap is not so hot so. Ah, old cars.
