Replacement sunroof

Hi all,

is it possible to purchase a complete sunroof replacement for a 1772 cs? My car has an aftermarket sunroof fitted by a previous owner and I’m considering replacing it.

Alternatively a fill in panel would suffice as the sunroof is not a necessity.

Failing both of those options I have a spare e3 wreck- I wonder if a roof cut from the e3 would profile match.

My guess is your only option (beside leaving what you have) is buying the complete roof skin (cut at the A and C pillars) either with or without a factory sunroof. The E3 roof skin would never work.

naaah, 1772 cars didn't have sunroofs..

Chances of finding a decent roof in Oz is going to be slim. Best have a real good body guy w/an english wheel, to just get some sheet metal and form it to the contours of your roof and weld up the hole.

Is your sunroof a regular one? Or a big ragtop, Webasto type?

There is a complete sunroof listed on eBay usa site currently. A bit on the pricey side IMHO, but maybe open to offers and then you just need crated shipment. - Or maybe the Webasto starts to sound interesting at that point.

I just replaced the roof on my car .
It was covered in a thread called : windscreen removal.
I put a lot of photos and some advice in there to maybe help others out a bit.
If your car has an aftermarket sunroof, I would think it would be easier to go back to not having a sunroof , as you will not have the golde frame in your car either to take the sunroof . It is a lot of work swapping over , but worth it , to save the car obviously !!!

I personally would not like a webasto sunroof on my car so I would not recommend one of those and I would imagine in Australia that you would simply cook yourself in a car that is covered by a bit of cloth draped over it .
Anyway if you want have a search for my stuff.
