Here are the how to photos of removing the broken or fractured plastic pivot mounts, removing the snap-ring, spring, washer, pivot, nut, cleaning & assembling in the aluminum pivot mounts. I didn't bother to paint them. I like the polished aluminum finish.
I used a small 'pick' to bend a couple tabs on the slotted snap-ring.
Pry off the snap-ring with some pliers
Tap out the pivot & compression with a hammer.
I cleaned the pivot, best to remove the nut to clean, polish, lubricate.
Reassembling is easier than removing the snap-ring. The nut should be tapered side inwards to be flush inside the mount, washer, spring then snap-ring.
With the pivot arm cinched in a vise, I used my larger lineman pliers on the edges of the snap-ring. With a good solid hammer hit the assembly is done. Remounting is the easy part.
