I had a SS bumper on my 2002.

Looked good, but man, it scratched so easily. Nice thing I guess is that it was relatively easy to polish out, but still more work than chromed steel.

The key here for me is the availability of the rear under-riders. I don’t think mere mortals would ever notice mismatch of stainless under riders mounted to chrome bumpers.

scratching - maybe they could be clear coated?

Is there any reason these can't be chromed?
It looks like some care needs to be taken, but Stainless Steel can be chromed. The hardness of SS varies depending on the type but obviously, the type chosen to make bumpers from is going to be softer than others to make it easier to form. Thus the ease of it getting scratched.

As I understand it, they are made by hand so lots of hammer marks on the inside.
@JFENG mentioned no under riders. Some of us deleted them as a conscious choice.
Anyway , NMNA - perhaps nice SS bumpers are better han a rusted out bumper if you cannot find a replacement.

They also make under riders too.

I will be getting a set soon will let you all know how fit and finish is, I'm rather picky with these kinds of things!

Please let us know the quality of these. This company makes bumpers for MB R107 conversions (big bumper conversion to the euro bumper)and I think there has been post regarding quality in forum links. But it would be nice to know regarding the BMW re-pops. As a side note - The company also makes kitchen stuff in case you need something to smooth this purchase over with your wife.
