Hi there,
Does anyone know for certain what the resistance specifications are for the resistor wire to the coil that was used on the '74 and later cars instead of an external ballast resistor? Was it the same for all later cars CS, CSI, CSL? My 1974 3.0 csi is #4340036 (11/73 build date). It has the resistor wire, but the little tag on the wire that used to show the resistance is unreadable. Thanks,
John

Resistance wire specs on '74 3.0 csi

I guess I'll just bypass the existing resistance wire on my '74 and add in an external ballast resistor to make sure I have the correct resistance. Will probably use a red coil with the 1.8 ohm resistor. I've got an old stock red coil (Made in Germany) that's actually red. Thanks,
John

I have a spare- it measured .9 ohm?

Thank you Don! You confirmed what I had suspected. I haven't yet cut out and bypassed the resistance wire on my '74, so I might just keep the stock wire and buy a new black (silver) Bosch coil that works with the .9 ohm resistance. Cheers,
John
