Restoration Tech Questions--B35 Engine, Subframe Bushings

In my restoration I am installing a 1990 Motronic b35 engine in my 1970 2800CS.

1. Oil Pan: I'm told the b35 oil pan needs to be replaced with the original coupe oil pan to fit in the subframe properly. True? If so, the b35 oil pump does not fit in the 2.8L oil pan. Can I swap in the old 2.8L oil pump? Will this be sufficient for the 3.5L engine? Do the two engines have different oil capacity?

2. Oil Filter Housing: the b35 oil filter housing points upward. Can the older style top-bolt filter housing be retrofitted to the b35? The b35 block/oil filter flange appears to have an additional hole that the top-bolt doesnt have.

3. Subframe bushings: mine are original, stamped 1970. The metal housing holding the bushings unbolts from the subframe. Are these still available? Apparenly 2002s have similar bushings, and they are sold as a complete assembly, with the metal housing. Anyone know?

Thanks.

Regarding your oil pan question, TBL has an M88/B35 currently installed and I don't recall any fitment issues.

Unsure about the oil filter

Rear subframe bushings are available from many of the usual sources.

I put in the E9 oil pan just to be sure for mine. No issues there. I did use the B35 oil pump without issue with the E9 pan.

The top mount filter is a somewhat common upgrade for the E34 guys. It should fit, although I would be very sure that it will clear the brake booster setup before installing.

You should use the original oil pan and matching oil pump. Spend the money for a new pump -- its cheap insurance. Its been a while since I dealt with the filter housing, but I believe the extra hole in the block for the oil pump housing needs to be blocked off or you'll have an internal leak and never get full oil pressure. Carl Nelson can verify what you need to do. He'll also have the subframe bushings.

So did this ever get answered with knowledge? can the b35 oil pan clear the coupe?
