guys,

i am considering buying another coupe for an affordable price - its original but is in need of some significant restoration work. it has some minimal rust, but its not serious cancer. so my question is, does anybody have any recommendations in the SE united states - somewhere between texas to the atlantic. as close to atlanta would be the best ... but i'm looking for somebody that is very good, honest and at least reasonable.

please send me your thoughts.
thanks

scott

Finding a mechanic that is good, honest and cheap? Isn't that like with women? They can be hot, smart or sane but you can only have two of those in one woman.

Who does Korman use for their bodywork? I would assume he farms it out and does not do it in house. Might be a place to start.

Greenville SC.

My car has been parked at bimmer specialists here in greenville since May. Paul cambell has run this shop for years and is very reasonable. Most importantly, he doesn't mind me poking my head in every couple of weeks to check on things. I don't need paint but there are a few shops around here he has suggested.

Go to the source

Email Max, Penske, W&N, Blunt, etc. and see who they've been sending body parts to.

We don't talk about what the first step should be with any 45 year old unibody- get the frame dimensions checked.

Are you open to Tennesse? Deluxecustoms.com.

I know where you are coming from. I looked around for a good body shop (that was actually willing to do this kind of work) around Atlanta for 6 months. In the end, I went with a guy in Cartersville named Brian Roach. His shop is called Color in Motion. He mostly does motorcycle work, but I have been pleased with the resto work he did on my E9. He fits in cars when the motorcycle work tapers off. His price was better than others and the work is good. Moreover, he was extremely professional and finished about when he said he would, even when there was no time crunch.

If you want to see some large pictures of my coupe and the resultant paint job, PM me with your email and I'll send them along.
