3.0CSi.

I have had an e9 since 1979, and have looked at many in the past.

The photos would seem to indicate thats is a goodun. The swage lines are all present and the notorious rust trap in the front wheel arch seems to be fine.

The only thing I dont like personally are those chrome extensions. its not a CSl but whatever turns you on.

BMW on ebay

Beemer70,

I would suggest giving Munich Legends a call, to find out any more you can if you are interested in the car. Barney Halse and the guys at Munich Legends will remember the car and be honest about its appraisal.

It certainly looks good. The vinyl roof puts off some of our stateside cousins, but vinyl roofs were a 1970's British car fashion thing, and previous posts suggest they were put on new cars either as dealer options, or by BMW dealers before they left the showroom. We see more vinyl roofs on all UK 1970's cars, BMW included. Its a personal taste thing. My CSi had one when I bought it, so I put a new one on when restoring the car.

If you get the car, its up to you!

Good luck. Keep us all posted.

Just a thought............

Hi there

I've just joined the forum. I work with Barney Halse. Barney left Munich Legends a couple of years ago.

We formed Classic Heroes. Just give Barney a call he'll be happy to chat.
He knows a lot of cars.

UK RHD CSi

Hi there. The current owner bought this car back in around March this year off a guy who had had it about 10 years. In it's previous life it had been a show car apparently but has been driven regularly since then.

It has a replacement engine (ask if he has the original) and they have added a 5 speed gearbox.

The current owner bought it for a song (about 7,000 or 8,000 GBP I believe) back in March this year. I am in Australia and am looking out for the right one and the day I decided to seriously start looking for an E9 I logged onto the web and this popped up - so I chased the guy for a day or 2 and even spoke to him but he sold to a local it before I could get my international act together. It gave me the impression cars like this must be easy to find - 8 months later I haven't found any RHD E9 that comes close to the condition and price compared to this one when sold by the previous owner - d'oh!

Here's the ad from the previous owner earlier this year:

The current owner listed it on carandclassic.com about 4 weeks ago at 15,000 GBP and I e-mailed him asking why he was trying to double his money in 6 months - never got a response, even when I told him I was interested to buy the car. Seems he has dropped the price now anyway.

All that being said it looks like a beauty and I wish I had bought it myself back then. I personally really like the vinyl roof. Good luck!

Yes - was interested in this car - but - where I want to import the car to, requires it have the original engine - not that I care about that myself - so was unfortunate. I think the guy can ask whatever price he likes if he truly has one of these great classics in top condition.
