It's stuck all the way up. The motor is trying to spin, I can see it moving. I can't get the whole mechanism out because the window is all the way up. I'm afraid I'm going to break something prying on it. I decided I better walk away, and ask for help. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks, Dean

Try turning the motor shaft by hand a few dozen times in the down direction to see if it will free it up. If it is spinning freely then the gear or rubber coupling is shot and you will have to take a few hours to lower it by hand to get the glass/regulator unit out since it has to be in the down position to do so.

.."motor trying to spin...." Not sure what you mean, but if you have the type of motor that has a black plastic case, you can pull the case down about an inch or so enough to expose the top of the armature. Then you can spin it by hand enough to lower the window. It's not fun. Good luck.

Thanks

Thanks guys for the reply's. I've tried your suggestions and it's almost like the arm that raises the window is stuck. As you know you can't see inside to know what is going on. I'll post the solution when I figure it out. Thanks, Dean

final answer

What happened was that the window went all the way up and I must have kept holding the button, because the plastic worm drive gear in the mech was messed up to the point that nothing would turn. finally got it passed the stripped part and it would turn fine, but when it came to that stripped section it would freeze up again. now I just need to figure out where to get one of those plastic gears.

If you have the motor with separate gearbox you'll need the entire gearbox or "clutch" as it's called, the plastic gear is pressed in and not replaceable if you could actually find only the gear itself. Place a wanted ad for one in the parts section - there are members here who have old ones lying around.
