5x120, stock steel rim would be 6x14 ET22. Same for front and rear. Later stock alloys may be 6,5x14 ET 22.
Popular period correct aftermarket alloys would be the Alpina 7x14 ET11 (front and rear) and the BBS Mahle basketweave 7x14 ET9 (front and rear) and later BBS basketweave 7x14 ET11 (front and rear)

stock tire size for the 6x14 would be 195/70R14 (some 2500s came with 175R14).

The Alpina and the BBS allows would have been run with 195/70R14 or, alternatively, 205/70R14

The E3 chassis works very well with 195/70R14 or 205/70R14, non staggered. The Et9 and ET11 wheels obviously give a slightly wider track which is fine for the driver with slightly more "sporting" intentions, but not so hot if you have an E3 without Power Steering.

If you want to improve roadholding and handling, make sure the springs and all rubbers are in good shape and put in a full set of Bilstein "Comfort".

Go to other wheel and tire sizes at your own risk, the chassis is nicely balanced, lively and yet safe with the stock setup.
