What do people keep in their trunks and glove boxes to be prepared for roadside repairs?

My coupe is a daily driver so the list below are a few things I have learned the hard way to always have on board so I could make it home over the past 30 years.

1. Jumper cables - for when you realize the emergency button popped out and your lights have been on all day.

2. Temporary hanging wire - for when the rubber pieces on the exhaust hangers break and you hear the dreadful sound of the chrome exhaust tip dragging on the road.

3. Brake fluid - so when your clutch leaks you can top of the brake fluid and get the car in gear.

4. Very tiny screwdriver (does not need to be red) - so you can tighten the grub screw and turn the ignition key.

Please add to the list, Doug

be sure that your spare tire/rim is actually good for use as a spare when needed (mine isn't and I am in the process of doing something about it)...

I also keep an extra fuel filter in my trunk given the crap that seems to be coming out of my old fuel tank and lines.

Jumper cables
Two quarts of oil
Jug of pre mixed coolant
Brake fluid
Spare tools
AAA Card
Credit Card
Cell phone charger in case my phone dies too

This is timely; my coupe came with a depleted tool kit and I am in the process of assembling the stuff to carry around. Tyvek suit is a great idea.

Oh, and Peter and I both think that the spare with my car is original! Wonder if an authentic original would sell for a premium on ebay?

Depends on distance from home. Always in car:

-full tool kit
-spare fuel pump
-fire extinguisher
-fan belt

additional for long distance road trips:
-duct tape
-electrical repair suplies
-#6 plug wire
-water pump
-alternator
-clutch slave
-bag of strategic wrenches, sockets, and tools
-tire plugs and can inflater
-scissor jack from wife's Highlander
-before switching from pertronix to 123ignition distributor i carried a spare pertronix/points at all times
-wine for hotel room (don't forget a corkscrew)

and of course AAA card.

I try to live by Murray's law of staying ahead of maintenance and reap the benefits of the car's inherent reliablity but I am still a little ocd with the spare parts. Part of the mission survival fun.

Glad to see your choice of jack. My car did not come with one; I bought a Honda scissors jack off ebay for $20.

I don't carry wine, but I do have my flask of Makers Mark.

Specifically what electric repair supplies do you carry (other than the wire)?

Which brings up the question, what is the biggest repair you would attempt roadside...? Biggest thing I've done wasn't on my car but with Martin M. from Chicago as I was caravaning with him to The Vintage 2011 with my NK and his 2002 Tii Touring. His car died somewhere in W. Virginia; turned out to be the apparently original kugelfischer injection pump belt. We had to drain the radiator, capture the coolant in his plastic parts container, pull the radiator, battery and a host of other things in order to replace the belt, which he did carry with him. We were roadside for about 2 hours by a busy interstate and not one cop stopped by (pic below).

Thehackmechanic Rob traveled to the Mid America 02 fest with trunk full to the brim with parts, tools and enough jacks and lifts to raise the car roadside; don't know if he would or not. Rob??

Not on my Coupe, but I did an alternator on the side of the road in San Francisco years ago on my Jeep Cherokee. That was cold, wet, and very annoying.

Maker's is more compact for sure.

For electrical I have:
-multi meter
-tape
-a few male and female connectors
-a few feet of wire
-spare horn/hi beam relay

#1 to Steve's list.

Just did 1400km to the Monterey car weekend and back.

I would add a towel to the list to wipe the bugs/road grime off with for when your buddy gets you an unreal and unplanned paddock parking pass at the big show.
