The Band was Dylan’s backing band, they were there the night he went electric. Robertson wrote music for Scorcese movies. He had quite a career. Funny thing, he was a Canadian but also wrote “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” which is about the end of the US Civil War. He was inspired by Levon Helm’s dad.
I’m feeling a little older.

Sad news indeed. Saw the Band in concert with the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead at Watkins Glen in the summer of 1973.
now that would have been a great concert !!! i saw the brothers in late '69 / early 1970 (the original band) ... then many other times without Duane + Berry. only saw the Dead once ... but sadly, never saw the Band. always wanted to, but they were never where i was at the same time.
Yes, it was an amazing concert and happening.
