Rocker panel color

I want to confirm that the rocker panels should be painted black - is that correct? The ones on my car were painted same color as the body, and I want to change that this winter.

IF my understanding is correct, the next question is what TYPE of black?? High gloss, semi-gloss, eggshell, flat, etc??? Looking for answers to this as well.
