Sorry to report Ron Wakefield passed away this past weekend. For those of you don’t know him, Ron was the technical Editor of Road & Track magazine in 1965, then Engineering Editor, then writer, editor and consultant for BMW of North America, creating much of the training material for dealership personnel from the mid-1980s on. He also published a few BMW books. His very first BMW was my current 1971 2800CS and we developed a close friendship over “our” car. I will greatly miss Ron, and my only regret is I was not able to reunite him with his original BMW. We had a date to do this, at O’Fest in 2022, but he had a fall a few weeks before we could do it. Attached is a picture taken at La Jolla independent of Ron, the second owner and myself. The 3.0CS in the picture is not “our” car it is Richard Rouche the second owner, and person that sold me “our” 71 2800CS

I sort of grew up in awe of Ron Wakefield...as I grew up with Road and Track, the formative years for me and them. Always loved the pen and ink drawings of cars, especially the BMW's, most notably the coupes. He always did a great job. Sorry to hear of his passing.
