Still don't have the correct one for my car.
2 possibilities?
Flat with base unit for curve.
Curved one piece unit to fit trunk/boot curve.

I did see this base on Rogers tii

And this Roundel which has the raised letters from BMW.

Would this Roundel work on this base and be close to an original?

Thanks,
Gary

I bought the flat ones from WN that said to use with base units, but it was a few millimeters larger. I wanted to use the base units, so I ended up filing a bit of the back side edges all around to have them fit perfectly in the base, front and rear.

The trunk base shown at Rogers is correct and it lists the Roundel as 51141872327. This Roundel should be 82mm.

The hood Roundel originally had a base/socket as well but these are extremely hard to find. The one piece raised letter badge is 87mm. Walloth has several and A51145081747 is for use with socket and has raised letters it seems. I think I bought one of these.

Hi Chris, Should a 71 2800CS have the raised letters?

It looks like 51 14 1 811 992 was initially used for front and back but it was superceded by 51 14 5 081 747 for front and 51 14 1 813 833 for the rear. Front socket is 51 14 5 780 170, rear is 51 14 5 780 171.

Thanks.
In the mean time a member chimed in and is sending me a very good quality Roundel. We'll see how that looks.

I recently replaced mine (hood and trunk) but with just the newer one piece without a base from W&N. I didn’t like the newer grommets they came with so I used grommets for an E30 that I got at the local BMW dealer pats department.

Are you able to share the part number of the bonnet roundel you purchased from WN?

A51145081747
I also purchased one last year, very nice & well made badge.

Yes, that is the same part number I purchased for the bonnet. I also purchased the one for the rear trunk but only a flat version (no raised letters) was available.

The front & rear bezels should be easy to replicate, either 3D printing or through lost wax casting. Just need someone to run with it.
