Rust in the engine compartment, engine must come out

Which is easier, dropping the complete front subframe with engine, gearbox etc, or just pull the engine from up above?

i think that greatly depends on the equipment that you have. if you have a 2 post or 4 post lift ... its probably easier to drop it out of the bottom. if you don't then its much easier to come out of the top.

You might want to think about which has a greater risk for scratches, putting it in from the top or bottom.

And dropping it out from the bottom gives you an excuse to do the subframe as well

Even with top engine removal, access to and replacement of the subframe or its parts, is dramatically improved. :wink:
