Hi;
Just found a new way of removing rust from tools and other parts.
Use a 50/50 mixture of Disstilled white vinager and water. Works great!
Thanks

Hey koopman!
What about flashrust? As soon as I dry something off that orange film appears:(

Koopman, I just wanted to say thank you for posting on details instructions to me (in Australia!) for dash removal. It's this kind of unreserved generosity that makes this board a very special place. Many thanks again, and if I can ever be of help sourcing parts etc from these
remote part, please just let me know. Best regards, Tripp

Another tip I picked up years ago for removing rust from chrome: take tinfoil (Reynold's Wrap) and a bowl of water, ball it up, rub on the chrome piece, the chemical reaction reverses the surface oxidation.

There are a lot of Youtube videos available for electrolytic removal of rust using a bucket, battery charger and some iron wire. Some also soak large parts in a vat of agricultural molasses.

Rust is an electrical process which generates a small voltage in one direction. Applying amperage in the "opposite" direction will not negate the process, but it will knock off the rust. The trick is that the part has to be really CLEAN. When the de-rusted metal is clean there is no surface protection and flash rust will form immediately. It can also immediately be wiped off with a scotchbrite pad or similar, but the metal will need immediate protection of your choice.
