In the internet age it's easy to assume everything that happens between everyone is visible via a search engine. It's too easy to watch the auctions on TV and thing that's where most of the transactions are happening.

I'd assume that for every 10 you see for sale on ebay, there are 10 sold between people privately. My E9's have been bought and sold privately, and most others that I know of were also done via transactions that can't be found on the internet or in catalogs. In fact, all but 2 of the classic cars I've owned were found and bought privately. Of all I've sold, only one was sold via a forum where you could have found out about it.

Well said, the internet is so crowded nobody buys there anymore.

The 3 coupes I bought in the last few years were never listed on line. I have made many Bimmer and Beamer purchases just by having a clean well maintained old car/bike and an open mind. Let the world come to you grasshopper.
That might be a good thread. What is the best vehicle acquisition story you have. Truth not required.
