Just wondering if the fixed back seats that came in CSL's are comfy for all day driving? I am 5ft 10 178 pounds. How is ingress /egress?
Is the fixed back seat the only seat that came in CSL's?
I doubt it will be easy finding these seats if I decide I want to go that route. I think I would give these repros consideration if they can be sourced in a Blue that compliments my interior.
Anybody tried GTS Nurburgring seats?

you should fit in them fine, but seat belts on the csl seats are a challenge, especially shoulder straps. the later scheel mann seats are very comfortable and work well with seat belts.

Having logged about 2K miles in a CSL this year (and being about the same height minus a few pounds) I found the fixed back Scheels extremely comfy, especially for all day driving. They got a little hot and sweaty in 100 degree heat, but the cloth surfaces helped a lot and that's to be expected anyway in a black bucket seat in a non-air conditioned greenhouse. I liked them so much that I jumped on a NOS seat at a swap meet even though it was serious $$$.

Ingress/egress isn't the easiest, but you get used to levering yourself in and out using the door sill and trans tunnel. Your mileage may vary, and I can see how larger individuals would not find these seats very comfortable.

The Max Hoffman show car 2270011 came with the full leather version of the original CSL "fixed back" seats (which often were not "fixed back" as they had a slight angle-adjustment knob on them)

Ingress/egress? Being 6'3"/195 pounds it took some getting used to, perhaps not a problem for people of more average height (or even short.) My sis plopped behind the wheel of the car when I got it when she was like 8 months pregnant and couldn't get out! Afterwards she always referred to the car with the "skinny butt german racing seats."

The later Scheel Manns of the high-back version are a bit narrow in the shoulders for me but ingress/egress is far easier and they are way more supportive/comfortable. I've never been a fan of shoulder-height bolsters for a street car anyways, I actually still have a pair of high-back Scheel Manns in a 2800, and would readily swap them for a clean set of horizontal-pleat seats (hint hint)

178lbs? Forget the Scheels, go buy some groceries... You are undernourished.

Im 6'2" and about 240lbs and find them v comfortable. I have the front faces of the sides in leather as it breathes unlike the vinyl and makes them more comfortable.

Sounds good by all accounts that they are a pleasant perch to pilot an E9 from. Has the point RS Porsche brought up about the seat belts been an issue? My car has three point belts mounted from the roof.
I also have a feeling the real deal Scheel seats will fall beyond my budget, but you never know. The Makers of GTS suggests that the Sebring and Hokenheim models are very similar to the Scheels.

I'm 5'8" (on a good day) and about 165 but pretty athletic. I have the GTS Nurburgring in my car and they were very comfortable including on a day when I did a 10-hour round trip up to Chico and back for the volcano car show. You have to lever yourself out of the car using the sill but it's not too bad once you get used to it.

Also, Stefan at classic car seats was a complete pleasure to deal with. Happy to talk about cars, nice guy, was interested in my project. He mostly deals with Porsche guys so make sure to get the right brackets (the first ones he sent me were I think for a 356). The added bonuses (boni?) were that I was able to get exactly the leather I wanted, was able to order more to cover the rears (pretty cheap actually), and was able to get the seats heated. (Not sure many other E9s have heated front seats. I know, I'm no purist.)

Edited to add: crap, I think I actually have the Sebrings in my car - don't have the order handy to go check. The other points still stand.

I've got three-point belts mounted in my car with Stefan's seats. It took a bit of trial and error to find something that worked well but I like the final solution. Happy to share pics once I get back from the beach (or, as close as I can get to the beach with work bothering me every 10 minutes) later in the week.

Also, Stan (who is taller and I think thinner than I) has been in the passenger seat, so he might be able to weigh in with any thoughts on comfort and seatbelt placement.

has anybody tried the gts montecarlo seats in a coupe? the gts nurburgring seats look similar to the csl scheel mann seats. although the scheel mann looks like the sides are taller.

would be curious to see pics of how the 3 point belts work well - especially w/ inertia wheel belts.
