Hi

I had a coupe in the shop that would not release the seatback so you could get into the rear seats I found that the 2 actuator levers were broken and would not allow the seat to release the catches I had some new ones made up out of aluminum instead of the original pot metal I had the shop make up 3 extra sets at the same time 4 levers ( 2 per seat ) shipped for $130.00 US These will outlast the seats If you have a similar problem, these will fix it. They even have the 8 square hole for the cross shaft ( this was difficult to copy )
first 2 pictures are of the original ones

Thanks, Rick

OK but yours are probably damaged, the originals are only pot metal, not very strong Maybe order these ahead of time so you won't have to wait for overseas shipping Think about how much that you are spending on redoing your seats, this is a small price in the larger picture

Thanks, Rick

16 mos. later, I'm probably too late to this, but I might seek these parts when I have my passenger front seat inspected. The lever on the side doesn't feel like it's making contact with anything, just flippin' in the wind. So it might not be at the hinge/latch mechanics and might be at the lever location.

I just had my seat out. At first I thought he lever was broken but it seems to be attached somehow. Spraying some lube up into the wire guide seemed to help. I did take off the screws from the plate around the lever, but that didn’t help me disassemble any further.

For people who are putting these levers in, do you have to remove the upholstery from the seat?

There is a tiny circlip on the outer lower arm activated by the release knob that connects to the inner trans tunnel release arm. Mine has fallen off several times preventing the inner latch from releasing.
