Hi everyone,
I am going to have an extra set of seats re-upholstered this month and I am gathering some bits and pieces.
Does anyone know a good source for the chrome trim that goes around the front seats backpanel? My upholstry shop says you can only re-use the original. Since mine are in such bad shape I want to replace them.

I've never seen them for sale as new old stock nor reproduction.

I think they are bright anodized aluminum, so sanding + polish and (if desired) re-anodising will make it look brand new. This is not easy however, as these parts are flimsy, holding them tight while sanding/ polishing is difficult ; it's easy to unintentionally bend them.
I've never disassembled a seat before, but could it be possible to sand and polish them while still mounted on the seat(part)? This would ensure they keep their shape.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Erik,

On my seats however they are completely mangled. Not sure how the previous owner did it but they are beyond repair.
I guess they tried to remove the back panel at some point not knowing that the trim is actually attached to the seat itself and not on the back panel.

I showed some photos to my craftsman and he told me that they are very difficult to reproduce... by the way, my car does not have them....
