I believe there are cir-clips holding each in place. Take some photos first before deconstruction.
Did you try some wd-40 and gingerly rubbing with 0000 steel wool, you may be surprised at the results.

I use 0000 steel wool and some Flitz polish on all the interior chrome with good (not perfect) results.

From memory, and depending on what you may think of as simple, it's not terribly difficult, just time consuming and multi stage with no particular technical acumen required. If you have the seat out, turn it over and along the pivot rod at the bracket end there is a near invisible circlip. Shine a torch in there to see it. Once this is out the rest follows. Again this is how I remember it however according to my wife - what I remember and what actually was are two different things. I polished mine on a wheel and they came up like new, however the chrome wasn't pitted to begin with.
