If you're having trouble with them sticking, you'll need to soak them and fish out the old muck as best you can then blow them out with air, rinse and repeat, then use some quality grease. I don't think they were meant to come apart.

I used steel wool soaked in WD40 to clean up the portions of the rails that were exposed, and then placed one end on the bench and tapped lightly on the other end with a mallet until it broke free. I was then able to move the railings, clean up the rest and grease them before reinstalling.

Made a huge difference.
