71 2800 had the belts and some of the bolts in the trunk. the bolts appear to be correct and screw into the holes OK but when I went to the hardware store to match them up they appear not to be metric. Were the belts added in the US. If anyone knows what thread size is correct I would appreciate the info. Thanks in advance

All seat belt bolts are SAE (7/8?) and never metric even though the head is metric, 17mm I think.

according to the parts sheets. As Chris says, they were not metric.
They usually are grade 8, which is important.
If you want a shoulder cap try Rick's Camaro's. It looks polished or chromed, but ps. confirm with them. If that doesn't matter try some of the hot rod seat belt places that sell extenders, etc.

17mm is essentially 3/4", just as 13mm is about 1/2". Who knew Fritz and Claus were using SAE fittings all along!
