What is used to secure the battery on a coupe? I'm guessing that I'm missing those parts as there is nothing to strap it down in my car.

Thanks,
Max

Surprisingly, this battery clamp assembly is missing from many coupes. http://www.bmwmobiletradition-onlin...el=7031&mospid=47808&btnr=61_1150&hg=61&fg=30 The L shaped rod with the attached plate is threaded into the battery tray, for this clamp to work, your battery must have a lip on the case bottom.

batt clamp

one more thing for that L shaped rod to work... you gotta have an intact tray in that area. Mine has only about half left... rust... y'know....

And the threads of the welded nut underneath have to be in good shape.
Run a xxxx (whatever it´s called in English) through the threads. That will clear loose rust and sharpen the threads.

Thanks for the help. There's no rust on the tray so it should be good. Now I won't be afraid of the battery grounding off the hood. :D

actually....

Ground the battery to the hood or other body parts is usually provided by the braided straps that were installed by the factory.

Now, touching the positive post to the hood, well that's another can of beans entirely. oh yeah
