In the registry, the latest 72 CSi serial is 2266326 and the earliest 73 CSi is 2250475. I'm also finding 73 CSi's listed with a 72 build date but they're listed as 73. I'm curious why these discrepancy. I would imagine the serials to be consistently consecutive to a year. Was there a clear serial cutoff between a 72 CSi and 73 CSi?

Background: my rusty European delivery CSi is 2264### and for the past 15 years, I believed it was a 73 but my serial specs near some 72's.

All CSi coupes are euro and the model year is the year it was manufactured. When they came to the US all bets are off. US coupes have a DOT/EPA sticker specifying the model year, which typically corresponds with US cars which is Sep of each year. The first 2800CS coupes for the US were first built in Sep 69 and all are 1970 model year. When owners put their coupes in the Registry they can claim any year they want. Hope this helps.

Look at the table here by year.

All 2250437 thru 2250464 VINs that I have were built in January 1973, might want to double check with Andreas. It isn't unusual to be three or four weeks out of sequence but not five months.
