Seriously....

Not even a CSi?

Looks like a 2002? That has to be one of the ugliest cars I've seen recently. Nice converson but on the wrong car.

Is it ran's avatar that looks like a convertable coupe? Any more pictures as a comparison?

At you service Bwana, although my avatar is now a bit different and changes week to week...note the way the top on this e9 (not a 1600/1800 like the other) is similar to the late model 3 series cabriolet and tucks neatly under a hard boot cover. It's also an electric lift, IIRC.

...for comparative purposes, here a pic of the folded top from the above 1600/1800 e-bay listing. (Yuk!)
(High dollar conversions use the entire rear section of the early e36 BMW cabriolet as it fits perfectly and the rear seats
are very similar e9 in lieu of what one sees here, likely done at a 'chop' shop with little or no chassis reinforcement!)

Conversion? That's a factory cabriolet built by Baur. There were only 1682 made.

Seems like common sense to me that if you have 30k to spend and you want a CSI then that's what you'll buy. Not a 1600 baur cabriolet or a 67 Pontiac GTO. Apples and oranges.

Ran, do yourself a big favor, drive /fly up to san jose, give terry a bundle of dollars for his excellent csi, drive home with a huge smile on you face. The car is tight , sorted , has the right mods on it to set it apart from stock coupes. Do it before someone else .
Good luck

I just spoke with Terry (twice) and he's with Alvin as we speak racing down to look at the fjord rusty nail in SF and we are speaking more this weekend.

I am certain you are correct pj although if possible I planned to look at Roy's CSi this weekend if he's available (the one at Carl's in La Jolla that's dropped to $25k ) but Terry's looks very promising and evidently he's not all that much in a hurry (not willing to be inundated with tire kickers) and if possible he wishes to pass it along (as I do my e24) to someone who can fully appreciate the value and work invested.

Anyone want a well sorted e24?

(just look at it as a 28 year old BMW Coupe (w/sunroof)
that you CAN drive in the rain without concern!)

Cheers and thanks!

Ran
