Set of First Generation Alpinas 7 x 14

Ok so there is always loads of debate on E9 CSL with Alpinas. Came in 7 x 14 (versus the much more common 6 x 14).

There were 3 different types over the years if you wanna be really geeky about it. The ones I am selling are upto late 73

#2800200 KBA# 11110344. Should be black centres

See pics really difficult to picture and the wheels have following date stamps on rear. It is a mixed set unfortunately in terms of date stamps on back.

Actually, no, I. have no idea what wheels like this would be worth. For one, they look like they would need a ton of work for refurbishment, no center caps or nuts. There looks like major curb damage on at least a couple of them, if not all. On top of that, I am told the older wheels like this, the metallurgy isn't near the quality of modern wheels.

I believe you are supposed to list a price when listing a part or vehicle. Nobody likes buying and selling with an offer when the seller has no base idea of what they want. How about you throw a number out, then we will at least have an idea what you think they are worth.

Of course buyer will pay shipping. Where are you located. In the US or out of country? Will make a tremendous difference in cost.

@Nachtycoupe is right, that there could be significant costs of reconditioning these wheels and do so without damaging the cast text on the inset. my guess is that the restoration on the wheels will cost between $1000 and $1200 ... maybe more / probably not less. While it is not mandatory that you post a price, it is highly recommended ... we tend to frown on the use of this forum as an auction site.

Ok guys chill. If you are getting refurbs done for $1200 you are getting robbed.

I've done over 17 cs of my own and so I do know what they cost.

I'd sell for £800.

I've done over 17 cs of my own and so I do know what they cost.

I'd sell for £800.

it all depends on whether you are doing it yourself or having it done professionally. this makes a huge difference in what they are ultimately worth. whoever stripped the black paint off of the insets of these wheels didn't obliterate the Alpina text, but they wore it down. if you want driver quality wheels, you can spend less ... if you want concours quality wheels for a great CS, CSi or a CSL, you will spend more than 1200 bucks. restoring these wheels.

@ABZY - we are chill...thank you for the price on these. I don't think @rsporsche is very far off on his estimate to refurb those wheels, they are pretty beat up and oxidized, etc. If you have a guy that can refurb them for much cheaper, maybe worth the money to do that fist then relist?

May want to add prices to the other stuff offered up as well, thank you for posting all this stuff...we appreciate it. It will just make it that much easier to sell, if not, throw them up on Ebay or something if no takers. We do appreciate you offering these rare goodies here first so please don't take any offense if we ask for prices, just kind of status quo here, it shouldn't be a guessing game or auction site on E9coupe.com, there are plenty of others sites for that. Thank you for the updates!

800 quid is an average price I'd say, given their condition.

I inquired for some quotes here in NL a few yaers ago, and a two tone paint as original (no powdercoat!) would be 250 euro per wheel.

Then also the curb rash needs to be fixed. I heard it can be welded up, but I also seem to recall that it is frowned upon, but I don't know why.

Secondly, I think these wheels are different to each other. Look at the spoke depth where it meets the rim, in the top right corner of the pics 3 and 4.
Pic 3 seems the have spokes that stand 5mm above the edge of the rim, pic 4 shows a bit fatter spoke, standing 10 mm high vs the edge of the rim.
I bet the thin 5mm spoke, pic 3 is the '72 build date one.

The 5 mm deep spoke are even more scarce.

A mercedes color by the name BrilliantSilber 744 seems to be the match.

Given that the only option for 7x14 Alpinas nowadays being the BMW/BBS-made at about 1500 EUR/piece, 200GBP/piece leaves you a comfortable amount of money for restoration and at the end you have an original wheel and not the „one version fits all“ with 10 holes. Just too bad that one wheel in this set is of a different cast.
