SF Bay Area: Euro M30B35

FYI, this motor has a US spec 260 degree cam in it and is pulling low compression numbers. Don't shoot the messenger. :(

This is the stamping above the starter. Lookup "8 digit" on mye28.com to better understand what this means.

I thought that might be the wrong info on that motor, it pays to do your research. And the owner was informed of his error but won't listen.

When in doubt remove the cam plate
This had a "M" on it- low compression green engine
Euro cam is "K"
Compression was less than 140

Interpreting the number in the pic above, the 4092 means it's the 92nd (092) M30 (4) made that day. The 3556 means it was made in Munich (3) and the 556 is the date code. What would be really helpful would be the 5 digit code that's often stamped below this number, as it would indicate katalyzer or not however this motor seems to have been produced before that process was initiated. Since the US was still getting the 633 in 1984 I think it's correct to call it a Euro motor, assuming it came from a real 1984 635. That leaves the debate over wither it's low comp with a katalyzer, or high comp dirty motor. I wasn't of about the cam marking, are there any pics of this to share? Which cam plate are you talking about? Item #6 here?

Edit: I'm also curious about the reference to B35 in the thread title. Did the seller change his ad? The B35 didn't come non-katalyzed and there's no difference between US and Euro.
