Shell for sale

I think it makes very good sense especially since you already have the other car to put in the interior, body trim, and driveline. In the end, to buy the rust free shell will be easier and much less expensive . To get a rusted coupe down to a rust free shell would at least be the amount of money he is asking for the shell, IMHO.

Have you check out Glaive's Verona red restored body shell in the parts section? looks real nice and it's already painted, if that is one of your desired colors. You can't really go wrong with anything from the Coupeking, that body shell appears to be completely rust free and it does allow you to paint it the color of your choice. There are just too many pitfalls of restoring a rusted coupe body that if a rust free shell is available then go with it. It will save you a ton of money, aggravation and time on your restoration project. $5000 seems like a real reasonable price. Heck, I'd grab it up in an instance if I were to restore a coupe.

Bert thanks for the heads up! That shell certainly looks very clean. I wonder how much he's asking. I just PM'd him.

Glaive car..

Glaive car is in NC and you're in VA. Pretty easy to see in a day trip....I've seen the shell he's not selling and it's excellant. He told me it was a coin toss for him as which to sell. I bought a couple of fenders from him, and they were as advertised. Nice guy. Just my 02 cents worth. No association, etc.

ok so Glaive repsonded back, I undrestand he's put substantial work into making the shell flawless. so here goes the options:
1. restore what I have which includes replacing inner fenders, rocker panel and floor panels
2. Look at CoupeKing's shell about 5K
3. Look at Glaive's. He's waiting for the final cost but it'll be around 7K

I would appreciate any feedback you all can give me as this is going to be a very difficult decision.

Glaive's restored shell appears to be a "finished" body and if you have a black or tan interior then this shell would be perfect. Also if the asking price is anywhere near $7k then it is a bargain.

Coupeking's original body shell also looks great. It gives you the option of painting it in your favorite color (suggest you paint the inside the same as the exterior color). Asking price of $5k is also a bargain considering the amount of body stiffening welds. Factor in the $1k cost to convert to fitting of chrome bumpers then the cost of these two shells are pretty similiar.

As far as restoring your old rusted body, remember, once you start digging into the problem areas, in most instances, you'll find more problem areas than you had originally bargained for. The cost to buy and replace body panels add up real fast.

Good luck Alex as we know you'll have a difficult decision to make. Please keep us posted.
