One of the 2 shifter platform mounting bolts has broken away from my transmission. Rather than pulling the transmission, boring a hole and tapping in a deeper thread, (which I plan to do in the future), I've mounted a rubber bushing at the front of the shifter platform, securing it to the transmission tunnel, just behind the shifter.
Presently the car is shifting fine and the feels tighter than it has in a long time. It is a lot less sloppy than previous.
Is there any reason why this will not succeed, and more importantly, does anyone forsee this causing long-term problems with my transmission?
Also, I've always had a strange "whirring" noise when downshifting, not loud or grinding, but since we're talking transmissions and shifting, is this a common coupe occurrence?
Thanks in advance.
