I have a pair of rear shocks that have been hanging around my garage for 10 years or so, new and never been installed. Which raises two questions.

Is there any reason I shouldn't use them? Do shocks go bad lying around?

How do I know whether they are Bilstein HD or Sport? I went to eshocks.com as recommended by many members here and they list the same part number for both Sport and HD: B46-0813-H0. Mine say F4-B46-0813-H003.

OK, one more question. What else should I replace as long as I'm doing the shocks?

The 813 says they are HDs. While you are apparently supposed to store Bilsteins upright, I have used some stored horizontally for years with no problems.

While you have things apart, replace the rubber spring seats.

Bilstein HD's for rear--

It's always a good idea--if it fits your situation--to replace the front strut inserts with the Bilstein HD's at the same time so you are fresh all-round

correct part for Front: F-4 P-36-0024-HD
