I have had an electric heater in the garage for a few years now and that allowed me to work out there while the temps were miserably cold in Pennsylvania. That didnt help with the summer heat and humidity though so I had to make a change.

I got a smoking deal on a Mr. Cool mini-split system. I checked Amazon from time to time looking for open box systems and found that they had one listed by a provider. I went directly to the provider's website and was able to grab the same system for about $200 less.

I installed it just prior to the Christmas holidays and it is pumping out heat even on the coldest days (so far). Now I am looking forward to working on the car in the summer.

BTW, no car work now as my ever patient spouse has run out of patience on my promise to remodel our downstairs guest bathroom so...off to do some more demolition.

How was the install, and do you have insulated doors? I've been thinking about something similar due to the cold MI winters.

My doors are insulated, but it will still get fairly cold without heat as the concrete walls are not insulated.

The installation really was fairly straight forward. The most challenging was drilling through the concrete to run the line package between the cassette inside and the condenser outside. The instructions are well done and there are some good YouTube videos that are helpful to watch as well.

Congrats on the new unit. It was -2 this morning, but a balmy 63 degrees in the garage. My unit heats in the winter and cools in the summer. It is a luxury we evidently can't live without.

By the way, I have a bathroom to remodel as well. :)
