I have never seen this before but really liked the description. Wanted to share :)

I firmly agree with all statements EXCEPT that addressing "remarkable fuel economy". Seems the auto trans in mine died shortly after taking possession, but that was decades down the road and a trans from an E12 (then another) fixed that.

This and similar articles/reviews were the driving force for me to buy the used '71 2800CS automatic in 1974. Dislike of the automatic transmission lead me to sell it and buy a '73 manual 3.0 CS in '75. Both were priced as 'used' cars at that time!! - ha.

And, the 'remarkable fuel economy' wasn't far off. Having a luxury car that got over 20 mpg in the era of 12-13 mpg Buicks etc. was pretty good.

I think they are referring to a manual transmission which shifts fine for me. Although not offered in the US...with injection on the freeway once up to speed I can get up to 25 MPG which is pretty good for such a car.

The title says it all for me -- 'One of the ten best cars in the world' -- a large claim, but then again our coupes are actually really good cars.

Although not the best in one area -- an all around pleasure to own and drive with positive looks.
