While installing the Recaros, I noticed that the trim on either side of the door sill was missing. I apparently never installed it when the car was repainted some 23 years ago (the color of the car was changed; the whole interior was pulled out to spray inside). I found the long chrome trim pieces that sit between the seats and the door sills (good thing; parts 51476740133 and 51476740134 list at $424 a piece!), and they're installed in the attached photo, but I can't find the pieces that sit on the sill itself, outside the rubber. They're hard to see on realoem; a clearer illustration is at

http://www.bmwpartscounter.com/show...ct=447893&ukey_assembly=157636&assembly=19524

It's piece number 15, part number 51136740136 and 51136740137. In the attached photo, the fact that the piece is missing is clearly shown by the strip of red body paint clearly visible when you open the door.

I thought I found them -- long ribbed plastic pieces with holes in them -- but the holes don't line up with the holes in the door sill (see photo).

Can someone snap me a good photo of this piece?

Also, can anyone confirm if this piece sits on the ridge just inside the door sill and mounts beneath the rubber and chrome pieces?

Thanks.

Rob,

You are missing a long piece of stainless trim, just like the finish on the interior side of the sill. The plastic piece looks like early 2002.
