Howdy, everyone!
I had an unfortunate event happen last time I went to shut my driver door: the side mirror sheared itself from the housing close to the adjustment point, and my mirror fell to the floor. The mirror is fine, but there's no good way to repair the damage to the mirror arm and housing, it is completely cracked through.
I ended up getting a pair of replacement reproduction units from Gullwing Automotive on ebay. It says they are stainless steel instead of chrome, and they do have a slightly different hue than the chrome units.
Now, the trick is, how do I get the old housing off the door and install the new mirror + housing? I don't see any external screws, so I'm guessing I'll have to do it blind behind the inner door skin. Any tips/tricks? I couldn't find anything about this procedure on the forums or in the digital copy of the blue books. (my paper copies are somewhere in a box in the basement, so not too accessible right now)
Thanks for any help!
