signal lights

attemping first resto. hear so please excuse if the question sounds mundain. If turn signal ligts come on but dont flash ,what would you check first to coorect, befor taking it to a repair shop and getting hosed?

The bulb. There are two filaments in turn signal bulbs. One is the parking and the other is the turn filament. Try a new bulb
