I ordered a new Bosch coil and thought I would be getting a black one like my original. It came in as a silver coil. It is supposed to be the same thing as the black coil. The tag on it states to use only with Ballast 0,9 ohm. Is this correct for my stock 2800 CS?

I have a Pertronix ignition but I did not change the hot wire to the coil when I installed the Pertronix.

The Bosch part number is 00010 and 0221119021 is stamped on the bottom. I don't know what ballast resistor is in use now. It is whatever was original.

Chris, you are confirming what I was told before. I will give it a try.

Given your ignition symptoms I'd put an ohm meter on your resistor to see if it's in spec. It may also say what it is supposed to be somewhere on the resistor.

The original ballast resistors are 0.9 ohm, only the Red coil needs a 1.8 ohm resistor, it is stated on the coil label. You are good to go.

Yes, I looked in my manual and it states the ballast resistor is 0,9 ohms. It is still the original ballast resistor. Probably a good idea to check it with a multi-meter anyway due to its age. I installed the silver coil and it is working very well.

It got rid of the high rpm shut down that I was getting with the old coil.
