As much as I love driving my E24 (when it's running right anyway) I have to say that working on it really makes me appreciate the simplicity of my CSL. Despite being 25 years old the M635CSI still is a much more modern car, which means a whole lot more stuff is crammed in to a very small space. In the past week I've replaced the oil pan gasket, which required hours of labor, just to get to a place where I could remove the oil pan, and just adjusted the valves, which while being fairly elegant for an overhead cam engine in which the cams operate directly on the shims/tappets. I can't even fathom working on a modern car.
