Skid plat/splash guard

My '72 2002 has one. On there when I bought it in Italy. I've never seen another one. Pretty sure it's not factory.

I believe all E3s had one. I don't think they were a skid plate, however. I've never seen one in the wild.

If you want to protect the oil pan you will need to make a guard like those found on Alfas, several flat steel bars.

The Alfa pan is much more exposed and more forward so it helps. I don’t see how adding anything to the e3/e9 really helps, the subframe is the lowest point.

I’m thinking more for road debris protection ie) unseen rocks/ metal. I had to do a rebuild on a friends E30 wagon M20 because of a unseen rock on the highway. Ended up putting a quarter sized hole through the front of the oil pan.

They're simply to smooth under car airflow, made of paper, basically door card material. Almost always missing and no one seemed to care, hence NLA status.
I had a NOS one but never installed it, including it with the spares package when selling my old CSL back to Tyson.

Wouldn't be hard to replicate in fiberglass by pulling a plug off a good one. But a limited market to tool up for... how many owners even know it's missing?

The E9 has a different PN than the E3 (51471811948 E9 vs 51471807684 E3). I would think there may be buyers for the E9 reproduction, very few for the E3 (at least in North America)
