I've had this wheel for years and it doesn't look like I'll be reinstalling it, so it's time to move it along. I bought it as NOS and used it for a short time. For me, the 40cm feels too big. I've been happily using a 38cm wheel. Being barely used, this wheel is in very good condition: the foam is not dry, loose or splitting, cover is not cracked, no rust on spokes and even has the original box. It is not perfect, the 2 o'clock spoke is flawed and there are a couple scuffs on the horn button from shipping. I've attached a photo of the small scratches on the spoke. I couldn't photograph the scuffs on the button, they're not noticeable if you look straight at it, only if you look from the correct, obtuse angle. Let me know if you need additional or more detailed photos. $1,300 + shipping.

Interesting accompanying pics of the original BMW Petri box. Guess it puts an end to some theories of tapered spoke grips as being VW/Audi fitments and squared off grips as being oe BMW wheels. Seen both types of grip styles factory fitted to the aforementioned cars.

That’s pretty cool. I believe this type with the raised ridge on the seam is an older model. It would be interesting to see if there was a date on the box anywhere to confirm this. Very nice wheel either way.

John - the orange part number sticker was the only thing on the box. There was no paperwork when I received it so no idea about dates. I did notice the differently shaped grips when I had two 38cm wheels and was wondering what the difference was. btw,the raised seam on this 40cm wheel is more pronounced than the 38's.
Wheel and box are on their way to new owner.

Check out this old brochure. I can't remember where it came from, I downloaded it long time ago.
