Some Northeast Coupefest input...

Planning for this event has not gone quite as smoothly as I had hoped, mainly due to one primary factor: cost. I didn't realize how damned expensive everything was up in that region during "fall foliage season." The best rate I could get at a decent, nicer hotel... nothing fancy mind you... was $184/night at a hampton inn with a 50 room guarantee. Coming from organizing an event where the average room cost has varied from $60 a night to a SUPER expensive $125 a night for the Hyatt Regency with a lobby we could park our cars in, I find that to be absolutely absurd. Gouging, even.

So this is where we sit right now. It is still possible for us to have a full-fledged Coupefest event. However, I think we may need to rethink things a bit. I like the location, I like the general area, but due to cost and complexity factors, I'm thinking that we make the event way shorter and more casual than its' Southeast Sharkfet brethren. Perhaps only a Saturday morning show/get together at the airport with an afternoon drive, returning to a cookout to run into the night? Or maybe a Friday evening through Saturday evening event?

What say you folk? Essentially what that means is less nights stayed at what I feel is a very expensive hotel and you don't have to take the day off Friday if you're local or Thursday and Friday if you're not.

I need some feedback here. It's very difficult to make good, solid planning decisions without some general input. Thanks guys!
