The sphere is a "bomb" and part of the engine swap.

I eliminated the normal brake booster for a hydraulic one (early 535 IIRC) and the bomb is there to serve as a backup if you lose brake pressure. It allows you to hit the brakes a few times if the "normal" pressure disappears. Like if the engine stops.

The above pic shows the old brake cylinder with the new booster. I had to shorten the tube from the pedal assembly a bit as the new setup is a bit longer.

The above picture shows it in place. You pretty much just have to hook it up to the hydraulic pump and it works. Been working for 12 years now without any issues or failures. Well, I had to replace the bomb once as the diaphragm in it had begun to leak but that is normal.

As for the swap, the engine is from a 535-91. Was 12 years ago now so i don't remember everything but the main things where:
- hydraulic brake booster
- keep the old oil pan
- modified engine brackets

I kept the whole engine wiring harness then but now it will get a megasquirt and wasted spark so we will probably rewire the whole engine. Is almost simpler and will become a lot cleaner. So many redundant wires on the old one. Not really original but but...

I should add that the engine is the last thing to be restored. So now it is a bit dirty and messy and does not quite belong in a totally renovated car but it will look nice too when we are all done.
