Just got these glassblasted by a local company where my parents live in the sticks. One upside of them living out there is that stuff is cheap, I traded two nice cakes for the work. Approximately €30 :) It is not a 100% perfect job but really well enough.

Now to get a layer of clear coat to make them last. How long? I have no idea.

Be sure you do not use urethane from a rattle can it tends to yellow over time.

Thanks Doug, it will be done by a proper guy in his shop with "normal" clear paint that you have on a car. He is doing the engine room at the same time so he will do this with the same stuff.

Glass Beads

Did you remove the baffle plate under the valve cover to make sure no glass beads were left in the passageways? Ditto for the sump.

yup, thanks. But will spend a fair bit of time rinsing and cleaning anyway.

I did find three fairly large metal bits and one long spring in the sump so it has done what it was supposed to. No idea where two of the metal bits came from........
