Just competed a 750 mi one way trip. Started off fine, flight checklist complete... got on the highway.. then all of a sudden coughed and wheezed like a cigarette commercial. popped the hood, squirters working, good to go... back on the freeway.. 610 an I-10 ... not a pretty sight.

Popped the hood- no gas... tried to blow through the gas line... no go.

Unpacked the trunk which was full.... boards out.... the darn fuel line was pinched closed so much it deformed the hose. Hose wasn't in it's groove in the tank.

Fired it up ( minus luggage-) viola! rearranged luggage and 743 miles later at 85mph ( Got some pretty good looks form those I passed by) arrived without a hiccup.

It's the darndest things.

Ha nice work - i bet you didnt expect that fix when you were unloading the luggage!

Made you appreciate the car working afterwards all the more though i bet.

good !
nice diagnosis + good you were able to solve the problem and continue the trip

i had a similar situation when after a perfect go (100 km), i stopped for a bier with friends, and when trying to go back home one of my carbs flodded with gasoline due to a loose aluminium cylindric tap

i perfectly understand the feeling, including those famous steps: negation, anger,...

Way to go Jerry - 850 miles in a Coupe in TX in the summer is something to brag about. Good catch on the fuel line. It reminds me of a car I bought that did that frequently the first week I bought it. I finally ended up dropping the fuel tank and emptying it - only to find about 1/2 cup of SAND in the tank!

I am impressed. I know a little, used to be a drag racer. Now if something happens and my coupe-owning buddy Bill is not along I go immediately to plan B: AAA+.
Works every time.
