I am starting a new thread here on the Historics at Sonoma. Here is an e-mail I just received from Sven:

"Chris,

We've been busy planning stuff for the Corral at Sonoma. Any interest you are showing towards attending this even is greatly appreciated. If you are planning an organized drive up here for the event, let me know if you need help with anything. The corral will most likely be an open air affair this year. The location and the Corral lend themselves to a more unrestricted open event. If you are offering up volunteers, they are always appreciated and welcome. The web site will have a volunteer sign-up section. Our theme is still loosely defined - currently we want to feature modified "tuner" cars, and hopefully preferred parking for CCA members. If you are interested, we are organizing a dinner for Saturday night in downtown Sonoma, that is, we are arranging with a local eatery to host us at their establishment for drinks and dinner. Friends and cars meet-n-greet style.

Let me know how many of you might attend. Here are links you can share on your forum(s):

So far we have five who plan on attending with two or three maybes. Original posts are here:

Ticket Discount for Historics

From the GGC CCA point person after I let him know how many are tentatively planning on attending:

"Great news - thanks for the info. As soon as we have the ticket discounts in place I'll let you know - For that I'm waiting on Infineon - they promised me disounts for the GGC CCA - so I'll pass that on to you as soon it becomes available."

I thought ticket prices were pretty reasonable but those of us attending will most likely get a discount so hold off before buying race tickets. If any others are interested send me a PM with your name and e-mail address and I'll add you to the list.

Chris

Chris:

Anything further on this - I looked at the site and still no news. Should I book anything at the Infineon site to cover my bases?

Doug

Doug,

I sent Sven an e-mail earlier this week. I am going to wait until the discount is determined and then book. There is no cost for the corral, info will be found here:

http://bmwcorral.com/

Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I add you to the current list of attendees.

Chris:

Turns out that weekend is my daughters convocation ceremony at U of A and a no show would not be taken well. I'll probably move my road trip up a week. Too bad, was really looking forward to the Historics and a visit.

Thanks for the note.

Doug

Historics Tickets Available

Alright Historic racing fans, The GGC CCA has finally got the discount for the tickets set up. Go to:

http://bmwcorral.com

Click on Registration, this will take you to a page where you enter your name and BMW CCA ID/Member#. This then takes you to the BMW CCA Club Member Tickets link and opens up a Shopping Cart. Weekend race tickets are $50, weekend Corral tickets are $20. Saturday only is also available. Ignore the fact that it assigns seat numbers to the corral tickets, just part of their system. They will mail your tickets to you. Hope to see some of you at this event, especially all of you NorCal members!

Well it's pouring here as I sit in the hotel room in Novato, won't be seeing any track events for sure. Time to cut my losses and head back south, bummer. Shanon, lots of bugs in the teeth yesterday, you would be proud of the coupe.
