The vacuum advance on my '72 CS's distributor doesn't hold a vacuum well any more. I'd like to get a replacement. From BMW, the advance unit costs nearly twice as much as a rebuilt distributor that includes a vacuum advance. Is there any other source? Any particular part number I can look for? Thanks ahead.

What am I missing here? That part is less than 100 bucks from the local shop. 102 from the stealer.. 40 bucks used is available from double 02 .. Keep in mind the reluctor doesn't get involved on this one.

VACUUM REGULATOR.
This fits your 1972 Classic BMW 3.0CS.

I'll put it this way... Cardone rebuilt distributor with vacuum advance/retard from RockAuto: $67.

I don't see how a tin can with a diaphragm in it is $100.

it is the joy of owning a classic car, surprise !

Sure, but my point is that I can buy a rebuilt distributor for this classic car that -includes- a replacement vacuum advance unit for $67. Does anyone know where to get just that unit new for less than $67?

Funnily enough I need one for my csi as well, are these the same part? Not sure I will find one down here in NZ
