I wanted to quickly follow up on my previous thread. I mentioned the e9 introduction to SESF a few months ago and got a decent number of responses from those who expressed some interest in joining us for the '14 event. I would really like to see a decent gathering of e9's, but I want to make sure there is at least some serious interest from the community.

The date is tentatively set for the weekend of May 3rd. For those who have never been, the itinerary begins on Thursday evening with an informal dinner and continues with a mountain drive on Friday (generally partially escorted by police, but not always). Saturday is show day - just relaxation, music, food, etc. Dinner during the awards ceremony on Saturday is included with registration (and we usually try to throw in another meal or two during some portion of the event... it all depends on the funds available for each year). Registration fee's vary, but are usually in the range of $60-80/pp.

We want to make a commitment to include the e9 model into the event - most likely in the event clothing, images etc, but only if there is real interest. Location is TBD at this point but has historically been in the Carolina's/Tennessee area (and of course our founding town of Scottsboro, AL).

We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this event every year and we would love to make you folks welcome - that being said, we want to know that there is interest. Visit the site (www.bmwsharkfest.org) to see pictures from past events.

Southeast Sharkfest has ALWAYS welcomed ANY model to our events - we have never been, nor will ever be, exclusive to the e24 or any other chassis... hell we've had a Subaru (see 2012 photos for that gem). :) That being said, creating a separate judging class, awards etc is time and resource consuming.

My one request is that you please respond to this thread if you seriously think you would like to be part of the fun - that way we can make a final determination as to whether a separate class is warranted. Again, even if we don't create a separate class in the end, any e9 is always welcome!

We corresponded earlier and I mentioned my interest. Unfortunately, the May 3rd weekend is one I could not make. FYI

For me once you set a location it would be easier to consider attending. Alabama is something I would drive to from New Orleans, but much farther from that it becomes less fun to make the journey. Also you may get more Atlanta coupsters if you have it further south. My $.02

I understand that part. If it helps, it is NOT going to be in Alabama this year for sure - I just threw that in there since that was where our event originated. We are most likely going to be in the North Carolina area this year, but there is one (unlikely) venue outside of NC that we are looking at.

We have had some amazing e9's over the years, but they come and go in smatterings. Past years have brought these beauties to our event - my personal goal is to get them all together!

I assume you know that The Vintage is May 22-24 in Winston Salem. Scheduled too close for me to make both.

Couldn't get any of your links to open.

Will have to investigate why links are down in this thread. Yep - we are aware of the Vintage and will have good separation from them this year. Not quite ready to announce the date, but assuming you're good for a show a month, you should be happy when we release. :)

Hi Kai - Given the very nice steering wheel y'all gave me in the raffle last year, I am again interested. I showed up in my e39 last year (which oddly didn't garner a lot of interest from the crowd), but would really like to bring my coupe this time around.

Having said that, I am only six months into my 18 month renewal plan on Annabelle. I plan to attack both the five speed conversion and the triple weber carb setup over the winter, so I cannot be certain she will be back in action by then. Assuming she is roadworthy, however, I would like to be there.

I certainly look forward to seeing you there, as well as some other e9 folks! Next year is going to be in a nice location - specifics TBA! :)
